We will be offering a Transitional Kindergarten starting in the Fall of 2011 for prekindergarten children who are ready for a more challenging program. This class will be taught by a credentialed teacher who is well-versed in kindergarten programming. The curriculum for our Transitional Kindergarten will be comprised of many components currently found in a kindergarten program. The content areas will include pre-writing and pre-reading activities for those children who are cognitively and developmentally ready. It will also serve as an opportunity for children to advance and develop as unique individuals, providing early intervention where necessary.
The Transitional Kindergarten program will focus on :
In addition to the above, our Transitional Kindergarten will also include center-based activities in the following:
The Transitional Kindergarten class will also engage in the development of projects throughout the year. These projects will be determined by the interests of the children and will be of educational value. Upon completion of a project, the class will host a special open house in order to share information about the development of the project with their parents and family members.
An option to include a nutritious, fresh and organic lunch prepared in our own kitchen is available upon request. A complimentary breakfast is also offered for children who arrive before 7:15am. A mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack is also provided.
Our school is open year-round and all programming is unaffected during the summer months. We do, however, offer a seasonal and varied calendar throughout the year.
A variety of extracurricular activities are offered each year for our children. These currently include dance (for children two years up) and piano lessons (for children in Prekindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten).
