Philosophy

Every child is an individual with unique abilities, desires and emotions. Out program is designed to meet the individual needs of each child by offering age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate experiences. We strive to develop and reinforce a positive self-image in the children. This will assist them in relating to others as well as developing self-confidence and self-control. At Camelot School, all children are provided with the opportunity to expand their creative abilities and intellectual curiosity. They will discover that learning is FUN!

Programs

Nursery School

Qualified teachers and aides provide a nurturing environment for children two to four years. Classes are small, and the children learn and develop in a well-rounded program. Arts and crafts, music and movement, learning centers, and storytime are offered every day. Cooking and introductory "hands-on" science experiments are weekly activities.

The children learn to share, take turns and develop their fine and gross motor skills while having fun! Both indoor and outdoor play are incorporated into the morning program.

Afternoon activities are provided for all preschool children attending the full day session. These activities include art, story, table activities, music, creative movement, imaginative play, and outdoor play.

Prekindergarten

This program is designed for children four to five years of age who will be entering kindergarten the following year. Several classes are offered at each school, including a junior kindergarten, and the children are placed in the group most suited to their needs.

Throughout the year, children participate in activities that are designed to develop the skills necessary for a successful year in kindergarten. During focused learning time, children are provided opportunities to learn number and letter recognition, number concepts, color and shape recognition, classification and matching of objects, spatial relationships, opposites, sequencing, and handwriting skills.

Learning centers are offered daily where "hands-on" activities are made available in language arts, pre-reading, pre-math, and dramatic play. The children also enjoy participating in arts and crafts, music, cooking, storytime, block building, and art. Indoor and outdoor play are also an important part of our program where the children can choose to participate in group or individual activities as well as fine and gross motor opportunities.

Through our creative program, Camelot's qualified and experienced staff is able to provide the prekindergartener with an opportunity to grow and learn in a supportive environment. By learning through experience, they develop the tools for success in the years ahead.
